Distinguishing different psychiatric disorders using DDx-PRS (preprint)
This work was lead by Wouter Peyrot from University of Amsterdam, we were happy to help!
We introduce the Differential Diagnosis-Polygenic Risk Score (DDx-PRS) method to improve the diagnosis of closely related mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression, especially at the onset when it's hardest to differentiate between them. This method calculates the likelihood of each disorder for an individual by analyzing genetic data and has shown promising results in accurately distinguishing these conditions in studies. DDx-PRS, which does not require patient-specific data for setup, could significantly aid in early and accurate diagnosis, enhancing treatment strategies.
