Preprint: Phenotype harmonization and analysis for The Populations Underrepresented in Mental illness Association Studies (the PUMAS Project)
We have released a preprint detailing our work on harmonizing psychiatric phenotypes for genetic analysis within the PUMAS project. We aligned phenotypic data for PUMAS over 89,000 participants across African and Latin American communities to investigate genetic factors underlying severe mental illnesses. By harmonizing and integrating item-level phenotype data across PUMAS cohorts, we identified core symptoms shared across diagnoses, paving the way for transdiagnostic genetic analyses.
